What to do after receiving your Letter of Acceptance?

  • All Exchange Students are expected to complete the following based on being accepted for one semester or the full academic year.

  • Exchange Students who are being accepted for Spring Semester would receive their acceptance letter slightly later than those being accepted for for Autumn Semester.

If you are Accepted for “One Semester”

1. Complete and return the “Authorization for Emergency Situations” form.

2. Apply for a “180-day Visitor Visa” at Taipei Representative Office in your country.

  • A “Visa Letter” will be sent to you via e-mail once it’s ready (sometimes asked for by the Taipei Representative Office upon application)

  • Please find the nearest Taipei Representative Office to you, and follow the application instructions online: Taiwan Embassies Abroad

  • For those applying for a Visitor Visa, please carefully consider whether you are applying for a Multiple-Entry Visitor Visa or a Single-Entry Visitor Visa. It concerns whether or not you will be able to leave Taiwan and re-enter during your exchange period.

3. Complete “Section A” of the “Medical Examination Requirements Form C (Providing Vaccination Records).

  • You must provide your “Vaccination Records” for both Measles and Rubella. You are required to provide a scanned copy of the vaccination records prior to your arrival. Please also bring the original certificate with you to Taiwan for further verification. Otherwise, you will be asked to get re-vaccinated.

  • Due to immigration regulations, all students accepted for One Semester will only need to complete “Section B” (Chest X-Ray) once they arrive Taiwan. We will arrange all students to do the X-Ray either on campus or at a local hospital. The examination fee is around NTD 1,000 (subject to change), and the students are required to pay for the examination fee.

4. Provide a Proof of Insurance before your travels to Taiwan.

  • Exchange students must present a proof of medical/travel/health insurance that covers the entire period during your stay in Taiwan.

Students from Hong Kong or Macau

Students who are holding Hong Kong or Macau Passports:

If you are an Exchange Student from Hong Kong or Macau (students holding Hong Kong/Macau passports), please apply for an “Exit & Entry Permit (出入境許可證)” online instead of a Visitor Visa.

** Note **

  • Before submitting your “Visitor Visa” application, you should consider whether you would like to apply for a “Single Entry” visa or a “Multiple Entries” visa. This will affect whether you would be able to leave and re-enter (for example, for travelling) Taiwan during your exchange study period without compromising your Exchange Student status.

  • Please note that it is not possible to switch from a “Single Entry” visa to “Multiple Entries” visa once you’ve arrived in Taiwan, as all Visitor Visa applications can only be submitted overseas at our Taipei Representative Offices.

If you are Accepted for “One Academic Year”

1. Complete and return the “Authorization for Emergency Situations” form.

2. Apply for a “Resident Visa” at Taipei Representative Office in your country.

  • A “Visa Letter” will be sent to you via e-mail once it’s ready (sometimes asked for by the Taipei Representative Office upon application)

  • Please find the nearest Taipei Representative Office to you and follow the application instructions online: Taiwan Embassies Abroad

  • *** Resident Visa holders are required to apply for an “Alien Resident Certificate (居留證 A.R.C.)” at the National Immigration Agency Taiwan in Taipei within 15 days after their arrival. If you failed to do so, the visa holder will be fined. ***

3. Complete a “Health Certificate Form B

  • Please complete ALL items on the Form B, and return a scanned copy prior to your arrival. After completing your Form B, you will need to bring your Form B and go to the Taipei Representative Office in your country to get a stamp for official document authentication. Please also bring the original copy with you to Taiwan, otherwise you might be asked to re-do all tests.

4. Provide a Proof of Insurance before your travels to Taiwan.

  • Exchange students must present a proof of medical/travel/health insurance that covers the entire period during your stay in Taiwan.

Lectures at TNUA

Even though language qualifications in Mandarin (Chinese) are not mandatorily asked for during application process, exchange students are still recommended to have basic knowledge in Mandarin, as lectures at TNUA are taught in Mandarin. English lectures and resources are limited, and are subject to the relevant professors. With that said, TNUA students are always very welcoming and supportive. We kindly suggest all exchange students to keep an open mind and seek assistance from local students when necessary.

Mandarin (Chinese) Lessons

  • We offer beginner Mandarin lessons (Level 1 & Level 2) under one of our Master’s programme, “International Master of the Arts Program in Cultural and Creative Industries (IMCCI)”. Exchange students are welcomed to sign up for the lessons for a fee of NTD 6,000 per semester.

  • As the Mandarin lessons are not provided within our usual academic curriculum, we are unable to award credits for the Mandarin lessons, and it will not appear in your final Transcript of Records.
